It was an elegant evening that saw the coming together of art connoisseurs to celebrate a fundraising effort that coincided with the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Jehangir Art Gallery (JAG). Hosted by chairman AdiJehangir, Sangita Jindal and Harsh Goenka, the 60th year celebrations of the gallery was attended by patrons, artists, socialites and industrialists, all of whom took part in the bidding of a number of remarkable works of art.
Some of the artists whose works were a part of the auction were Akbar Padamsee, Anjolie Ela Menon, Sakti Burman, Gieve Patel, Jaideep Mehrotra, Lalitha Lajmi, Paresh Maity, NayanaaKanodia, Samir Mondal, Satish Gujral, Sujata Bajaj, Yusuf Arakkal and many others. Jehangir Art Gallery, undoubtedly one of the most prestigious destinations for art shows in India, has been at theforefront of promoting Indian art and culture for over the last six decades. “The fundraiser was the first step towards the gallery’s vision of opening two additional exhibition spaces on the premises in the next few years,” revealed Sapna Kar, Festival Director, JAG.Venue: The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai Buzz: Also launched at the event was the website of the Jehangir Art Gallery.
