Café Infinito, Mumbai

  • cafe infinito

Mumbai, alas, has such few outdoor dining experiences, but we are happy to notice the trend is changing. This café allows you to absorb the balmy evenings in absolute serenity. We like.

The open-air section of this refurbished restaurant (earlier Otto Infinito) had us impressed with its relaxing ambience. Serving up Italian, Continental and comfort food, the drinks menu was wide-ranging—from cocktails to milkshakes to iced frappés. We settled for the Mandarin Mojito and weren’t disappointed. For nibbles, we went with the firecracker prawns with sour cream and it proved perfect—crispy with a tangy twist. This was followed by the Downtowner Pizza that offered up a thin crust with a delicious mix of spicy pepperoni chicken sausage, sautéed mushrooms, onions and black olives. Verdict: heavenly. Since calories leave us unimpressed, we asked for the Big Bloody Bugger next, a quarter-pounder beef, crispy bacon and cheddar burger. Sadly, this disappointed with its overpowering slather of mayonnaise and fried egg.

For mains, we picked the seared chicken with fondant potatoes and porcini jus which were perfectly flavoured and delectable. But it was dessert that was the big winner. The manager recommended the Tres Lesches (a Spanish dessert) and limoncello sorbet, and it was mighty good advice. So good, one wouldn’t mind going back solely for that!
